Healthihouse™

A Beechcroft Healthihouse is designed, constructed and finished in such a way that it is conducive to good health. This means it will feature light switches and door handles with antimicrobial properties, non-porous worksurfaces with antimicrobial protection to reduce the spread and growth of bacteria, sanitaryware with technology designed to suppress bacterial growth and hygienic, easy to clean bathroom wall panelling.

Each home will have a ‘whole house ventilation system’ to provide filtered air and reduce energy bills plus a water filtration system to the kitchen and, of course, your new home will be deep cleaned to World Health Organisation standards before you move in.

What does a Beechcroft Healthihouse™ include?

The emergence of COVID-19 has focused attention on the importance of hygiene – and not only in public spaces. Having a home environment that promotes good hygiene can make a difference to health and well-being.

There are many areas of our homes which are hotspots for bacteria.  Touch surfaces such as door handles, for example, often host a range of bacterial colonies.  A study conducted by the Worcester Polytechnic institute, WPI, revealed the presence of 1323 bacterial colonies displaced amongst just 27 door handles.

Each Beechcroft Healthihouse features light switches and door handles with antimicrobial properties. Antimicrobials kill micro-organisms or stop their growth so you don’t have to worry about picking up an infection caused by bacteria or a virus when you open a door or flick on a light switch.

Beechcroft Healthihouse homes also feature non-porous stone worksurfaces with antimicrobial protection to reduce the growth and spread of bacteria. The non-porous worktops won’t stain, crack or allow bacterial growth and so help keep kitchens germ-free.

Bathrooms and en-suites are fitted with hygienic, easy to clean wall panelling whilst sanitaryware incorporates technology designed to suppress bacterial growth.

There’s also a whole house ventilation system, designed to provide filtered air throughout which means a healthier and more comfortable environment for you and your guests.  Fresh air is drawn into the drawing room and bedrooms of the house from the outside through ducting within the ceiling and stale air is extracted.  As the incoming air is pre-warmed, whole house ventilation can lead to savings of between 25% and 50% of heating costs. Without an air ventilation system to bring fresh air into the property, your home environment may allow colonies of microbes, including bacteria, fungi and viruses, to flourish.

In addition, each home has a water filtration system for the kitchen tap to reduce limescale, organic impurities, chlorine, and metals. This leads to better tasting tap water with less limescale ensuring that the water coming from your taps is as healthy as possible.

Before the new homeowners move in, houses and apartments will be deep cleaned to World Health Organisation standards.
