Location is a priority when searching for a new home and, for Mrs Sandra Savage, the location had to be Binfield, where she’d lived for many years. When she discovered Beechcroft’s Binfield House, she was quite sure that it was the place she wanted to live, as she explains:

“I decided to downsize because my former home, which was just two minutes’ walk from Binfield House, was too big now there’s just me. I wanted to stay in Binfield though, because it’s such a lovely village with a proper village centre. I’ve lived here for about fifty years now and my last home was just a couple of minutes’ walk away so I know all the people round here and where, and how, to get things done. I have always loved Binfield House though. It’s such a beautiful building and, before Beechcroft bought it, it used to be a council-run home for older people. I used to think it would be a lovely place to end your days – and now I’ve made my home here.”
Set within three acres of beautifully landscaped gardens, Binfield House is a Grade II listed Georgian manor, that has been carefully restored and converted into just nine apartments by Beechcroft. A further nine, new homes have been built within the grounds. Designed for the over 55s, each of the homes at Binfield House provides generously proportioned, light filled, living space and a high-quality specification. An on-site Estate Manager handles the day-to-day administration of the development including organising the maintenance and the cleaning of communal areas as well as the upkeep of both the landscaped setting and private gardens.
“I really like period properties so I bought one of the converted apartments in the original Binfield House - my new home is situated in what was once the servants’ quarters,” continues Sandra. “The building is in a Conservation Area and it backs onto farmland and is beautifully peaceful. I look out onto a huge Cedar tree at the back of the house and I’m able to watch the hedgehogs and foxes that come into the garden. It’s just lovely.”

“One of the reasons I moved to a retirement development was because I wanted to live in a community. I lived on a busy road before and there wasn’t really any sense of community but at Binfield House we’re all of a similar age and everyone is so nice. We all get on well and meet up for coffee either individually or as a group, so it’s worked out brilliantly. I am really happy living here and my sons love coming to visit.”
Currently two of the converted apartments are available at Binfield House. The two-bedroom apartment with a dual aspect living room and a sunroom, is priced at £500,000 and the two-bedroom apartment with triple aspect living room and semi-circular balcony is priced at £625,000.
