Bobbie Hurworth-Molloy finds the perfect retirement home at Cotswold Gate in Burford – and her cat loves it too!

“I looked at a development by another retirement specialist but it was too restrictive. Cotswold Gate is ideal.  Pets are welcome and I was able to bring my cat, Django, who is now twelve and a half.  I have a cat flap – and he rules the territory.  My neighbour and I are great friends; she also has a cat and we look after each other’s pets when one of us goes away for a night, which is very useful.”

“Living here, it’s nice to be able to chat to people over the fence.  At the moment, there are just four residents in my courtyard but more will be moving in soon.  The regular coffee mornings make it possible to get to know people who live around the other two courtyards and it’s nice to mix with them.  There was a summer party here – and there are plans for a Christmas party.”

“Getting hold of people to help when you live on your own can be difficult but here, the Estate Manager is a great help.  Coming to a place like this, you don’t have to worry about the external work, such as guttering or windows.  Private gardens, as well as the communal gardens, are maintained but I have a small patio garden, front and back, which is easy to look after and I am able to plant bulbs.

“I always intended to retire to the Cotswolds,” adds Bobbie, “What’s not to like about this area?  It’s beautiful.  Everybody knows the Burford Garden Company which is just across the road.  It’s nice to be able to have a coffee in lovely surroundings – and I often take visitors across there.”

“I’m still driving so I’m able to travel all over the place by car but, when the time comes to give up my car, there’s a bus stop just outside the development and several bus routes pass along the main A40.”

Bobbie is certainly making the most of her retirement.  She has joined a lecture group and a choir – and she enjoys visiting museums. She’s also a keen traveller – Australia being one of her favourite destinations.

She has plans to visit France and Kenya this year – but, she’ll have peace of mind knowing that the Estate Manager is keeping a watchful eye on her apartment whilst she’s away.
