When Mrs Katherine Smith decided to move from her Beechcroft retirement home at Barton Farm in Cerne Abbas, Dorset to be nearer her family in Oxfordshire, she chose to buy Beechcroft for the second time – this time at Longcross Place in Wallingford.
“I lived in a three-bedroom, semi-detached house on a Beechcroft development in Dorset for about 18 years. Having been widowed five years ago, I took the decision to move nearer to my three children and my six grandchildren, all of whom live within easy driving distance of Wallingford. My eldest son only lives about 20 minutes’ drive from here.” says Mrs Smith.
Designed exclusively for the over 55s, Longcross Place is an elegant collection of just 23 apartments set in beautifully landscaped, fully maintained gardens just off Winterbrook in Wallingford. The development also features a comfortable residents’ lounge where residents are able to socialise, allocated parking and electric vehicle charging points. As Mrs Smith discovered, the apartments are generously proportioned with plenty of natural light and fixtures and fittings of the highest quality.
“My eldest son told me about Longcross Place and, after visiting the show home, I chose an apartment with a balcony and an attractive view and I’m very happy with it. It’s conveniently located and warm – and will save me money on energy bills and, of course, everything is of a good quality. It’s also nice to have neighbours who are all about the same age as me and there’s a communal lounge where we can meet for coffee or events.”
“The Reading Road goes past the development so there’s a good bus route but I am able to walk into Wallingford which takes me about 15 to 20 minutes and Wallingford is a pleasant place to shop or have coffee.”
At Longcross Place, as at all Beechcroft developments, an Estate Manager takes responsibility for the day-to-day management of the development, including the cleaning and maintenance of the communal areas and the upkeep of both private and communal gardens. The manager is also on hand to keep an eye on properties when owners are away and to offer help and advice if needed.”
“The estate management service is such a good idea,” adds Mrs Smith. “If you need to ask anything, the manager can usually provide the answer. The Beechcroft team looked after me during the buying process and once I’d moved in.”
