Mrs Martin's new home in Orford Place

Shirley Martin wasn’t considering moving house until a friend recommended Beechcroft’s Orford Place in Ham; a recommendation which changed Mrs Martin’s life – as she explains.

"I was living very happily in Banstead and wasn’t in the mood for moving home but, when a friend told me about Beechcroft’s Orford Place, I thought it sounded really nice. Visiting the development, I made my mind up immediately – and I didn’t go looking for anything else. The location is ideal for me – still close to my daughter but nearer to London with really good transport links. In fact, that’s one of the wonderful things about living here– I’m a bit of a ‘gad-about’ and, from Orford Place, I can get anywhere I want to go. I often travel on the bus and have started to use the train. I just love getting out and about."

“Buying a new home in lockdown was challenging. With all the restrictions relating to Covid-19, it would have been easy to give up but I was determined to buy a home at Orford Place.

This is a nice community – I am able to catch up with neighbours and have a chat but I have my own privacy and independence. I used to share an allotment with one of my neighbours but I’m out so much that she has taken it over. There’s a meeting room on site which we are beginning to use for community events – a fitness instructor comes in to teach yoga classes. “The Estate Manager and his assistant are very helpful and Beechcroft’s customer care is wonderful. The whole living experience here at Orford Place is so good.
