When you reach retirement age, it makes sense to move to a new energy-efficient, easily maintained home. Making that move means benefitting from a fresh start, enjoying a more relaxed lifestyle and saving money on energy bills but the actual move, particularly if you have a lot of possessions, can be stressful and time consuming.
With 40 years’ experience of creating award-winning retirement developments, the team at Beechcroft is aware of the difficulties of moving home and offers customers a ‘Manage Your Move’ service.
Those who take advantage of this are able to have their furniture and possessions professionally packed and transported to their new home – and will also be offered the services of a handyman for a morning or afternoon to help with small jobs such as putting up shelves, hanging pictures and reassembling or rearranging furniture.
Chris and Jeanette Propert moved to Beechcroft’s Cotswold Gate development in Burford in January and were grateful for the removal service and the use of a handyman as Mr Propert explains:
“We had agreed a moving date of 11 January - the removal team arrived two days before and spent the whole day packing – we have a lot of fragile things and many pictures. They packed more boxes than we thought possible. The following day they came and loaded everything into the removal van, and on the day of our move, they were at the development to meet us. Nothing was broken or damaged and they carried everything – even difficult items – up the stairs, happily and without complaint, despite having to park at a distance. By late afternoon, everything had been safely delivered. We were relieved and very grateful!”
“The post-move service was also good. Beechcroft allowed us to put the flattened boxes and associated packing material into the builders’ storeroom, and the removal team later removed it all when they moved another couple in, which was really helpful.”
“After waiting a while, we had help from the handyman. We no longer have ladders so I wasn’t able to put curtain rails up, but when the handyman came, he was brilliant. He arrived first thing in the morning as arranged, put up the curtain rails, installed a window blind, fixed a couple of shelves and adjusted one of our doors. We can’t praise his cleanliness, speed and effort highly enough. He worked tirelessly and was extremely neat and tidy.”
Mr and Mrs Propert chose to move to Cotswold Gate, Burford, because the maintenance of their former home and garden was beginning to prove too much for them, particularly after Mr Propert had some health issues.
Designed for the over 55s, Cotswold Gate is an exclusive development of two- and three-bedroom apartments and two-bedroom houses, each with a terrace, balcony or private gardens along with allocated parking. An on-site Estate Manager handles the day-to-day administration of the development including cleaning and maintenance of communal areas and the upkeep of both private gardens and the landscaped setting. There’s a comfortable residents’ lounge, a luxurious guest suite and a shuttle bus service for residents.
For further information on Cotswold Gate, where prices start from £350,000 for a two-bedroom apartment, please contact the sales team on 01993 688342 or visit the Costwold Gate webpage.
