“We had no reason to move home because we were happy where we were living but I had reached the stage where I began to wonder if we needed to be forever doing the garden. All the jobs seemed to be taking longer – the things that once took me two hours were taking two and a half,” says Mr Sadler. “One day, we went to The Withies Inn for lunch and I asked my wife if she fancied moving but she refused.”
“The solicitor came to do our wills – and she was lovely, but she said she couldn’t see any reason why we would need to move from our former house,” explains Mrs Sadler. “She said we had a downstairs wc and we could put our bed in the dining room if we needed to, in future. I thought ‘oh no – I don’t want my bed in the dining room’ and that thought was still with me when my husband talked about moving house – although I do think the extra glass of wine played a part in persuading me!”
“We went to have a look at Hampton Manor,” adds Mr Sadler “And our daughter said that the top floor flat would be best for us because of the lovely views and the fact that it would be easy to maintain. She said ‘just do it’ – and we did. The whole process from selling our former home to moving to Hampton Manor has worked out well.”
Now the couple are living in a beautiful, converted apartment with open-plan living space and superb views over the communal gardens and wooded countryside beyond. Unlike many Beechcroft developments, Hampton Manor isn’t an age-restricted development but its estate management service and a superb location within easy reach of Godalming town centre and the Surrey countryside, make it an ideal place for anyone wanting to enjoy a relaxed way of life.
“It’s wonderful here – very quiet. Everybody is lovely but we don’t live in each other’s pockets. You have a choice whether you want to mix with people or not – there’s absolutely no pressure. We all respect each other – and we respect each other’s privacy. The communal gardens are lovely – we walk around at about 5 pm and take a look at the trees and the birds. It’s such a peaceful place to live – there’s a wonderful sense of tranquillity here.”
“We have had some health issues and it would have been much more difficult if we’d been living in our former home. For me, the fact that we chose to make the move to Hampton Manor was incredibly important – no one else decided for us. We have had many adventures and done many things and now we feel very peaceful and very pleased we made the move – but we wouldn’t want to move again.”
The final three-bedroom apartment at Hampton Manor is priced at £625,000 and the two-bedroom apartment with a balcony is priced at £630,000. Both apartments come complete with carpets, curtains and light fittings. For further information, please contact the Beechcroft sales team between 10 am and 5 pm, Tuesday to Saturday on 0800-1114432 or visit the website on www.beechcroft.co.uk.
Set on the second floor with lift access, this three-bedroom apartment in the original, converted building provides an abundance of well-planned living space. The Juliet balcony, with its glazed French doors, will allow light and fresh air to flood the apartment – and the views of the communal gardens and the wooded landscape beyond are just beautiful. In this apartment, the sloping ceilings add plenty of character. The kitchen/dining area is fitted with bespoke cabinets and a range of high-quality appliances. The washing machine/tumble dryer are tucked away in a utility cupboard off the hallway, ensure that the laundry can be kept out of sight. The master bedroom has an en-suite shower room and the second bedroom is adjacent to the main bathroom. Both bathrooms come complete with vanity units and fitted mirrors and the master and second bedrooms have fitted wardrobes. The third bedroom in this delightful apartment would be ideal for use as a study or hobbies room.
