Pamela Laws, who lived in Epsom in Surrey, had been thinking about downsizing for about a year when her son and daughter-in-law discovered a home that would be perfect for her at Beechcroft’s Seymour Court development in Thame. “My husband died three years ago and my friends all seemed to be leaving Epsom which meant I was feeling more and more isolated. Both my children suggested moving closer to my family – my son, his wife and their three teenagers live in Thame.”

When I viewed the apartment my family thought I’d like – that’s when it all happened. I liked it from the beginning particularly as it is south-facing and has a balcony. Now that the winter has come, it’s really cosy. When I moved in, I didn’t change my basic furniture - I thought I would be more comfortable surrounded by familiar things. Really, I have surprised myself at how well I have settled in.”
Mrs Laws has already joined an art group, has enrolled in a ‘pay as you go’ gym and appreciates the growing sense of community at Seymour Court:
“There are a few other apartments and some houses near my new home, I have already had several drinks invitations and am getting to know my neighbours.”
