Official opening of The Farthings, Leatherhead benefits local charities

Despite the threat of snow, local people and new residents of the award-winning retirement development, The Farthings in Leatherhead, joined the Beechcroft team at an event to celebrate the completion of the elegant new houses and apartments.   New neighbours were able to take the opportunity to meet each other and all the guests enjoyed the champagne and canapes which were served in the development’s attractive communal lounge.

The Chairman of Mole Valley District Council, Councillor Raj Haque, performed the opening ceremony and received a £500 cheque for his chosen charities from Managing Director, Chris Thompson and Sales and Marketing Director, Angela South.   The money will be donated to Councillor Haque’s chosen charities – The Motor Neurone Disease Association and The Rainbow Trust – both national charities supporting local people.

Guests, were also able to take a look around the show homes at this over 55s development and both Councillor Haque and Mrs Haque were impressed with the development which recently received one of the top accolades at The WhatHouse? Awards in the hotly-contested Best Retirement Property category.

The Farthings comprises 35 new, two and three-bedroom houses and apartments designed for the over 55s and set in beautifully-landscaped and fully-maintained grounds just off Randalls Road in Leatherhead.  Designed to provide plenty of light-filled living space, every property offers outside space either a terrace, balcony or private garden.   In addition to the communal lounge with kitchen area, there is also a comfortable, stylish guest suite for overnight visitors at The Farthings.

The private gardens as well as the communal grounds are maintained by the on-site Estate Manager who also takes responsibility for the day-to-day administration of the development and the cleaning and maintenance of the communal areas. The Estate Manager also keeps an eye on properties whilst owners are away – which is ideal for those who like to travel.

The unique relationship between Beechcroft and the neighbouring Porthaven care home ensures that owners at The Farthings have access to the facilities on offer at the care home including a café, cinema room, a leisure and wellness programme, social events, daily hot meals and a laundry service.

Although The Farthings is just a short distance from the town centre and railway station, Beechcroft will be providing a private bus service to and from the town centre so owners are able to leave their cars at home

Currently available at The Farthings is a trio of three-bedroom houses priced from £650,000, each with a sun room, terrace, balcony and garden and the final apartment - a three-bedroom first floor apartment with balcony - priced at £650,000.
