Mention ‘downsizing’ or ‘retirement housing’ and people immediately think of apartments but as Beechcroft’s celebratory event at Maryland Place in St Albans will reveal, there are some outstanding houses, designed for the over 55s, on the property market.
As Beechcroft’s customers confirm, many people over the age of 55 choose to ‘cross trade’ in retirement rather than downsizing; moving from an older family house that requires a great deal of maintenance to a spacious new house that’s easy to maintain and energy efficient. It’s a ‘change of lifestyle’ because, with an Estate Manager on hand, the private gardens as well as the landscaped grounds are maintained and owners are able to travel without having to worry about the home they’ve left behind.
Beechcroft will be celebrating the completion of the houses at Maryland Place on Townsend Drive in St Albans with a champagne and canape event to be held at the development on Saturday 13 October from 11 am to 3 pm. Guests will be able to view the show homes along with the three-bedroom houses currently available, at prices starting from £795,000.
There are eight homes available; each featuring a generously-proportioned drawing room, dining room and a sun room, opening onto a terrace and private garden. Every house has at least one en-suite bedroom, some feature two en-suites in addition to the main bathroom and there is allocated parking. The specification is of the highest quality with flooring throughout including carpeting, fitted wardrobes to two of the bedrooms, bespoke kitchen cabinets and a full range of top brand integrated appliances and vanity units and mirrors in the bathrooms and en-suites.
