'Home' is where the family is...and for David and Kathleen Reid that's Marlborough

After living in Wales for 27 years, David and Kathleen Reid finally decided to move to Marlborough in order to be closer to their family.  This decision was largely prompted by Mr Reid’s deteriorating sight and the fact that the drive from Wales to Wiltshire, where their family lived, was proving onerous for Mrs Reid.

“We moved into our new Beechcroft home in January and are really pleased with it,” comments Mrs Reid.  “Our younger son and his family live about 10 miles away and they wanted us to be nearer to them.   As my husband suddenly lost most of the sight in his second eye a year ago, we thought that it was time to make a move. Our daughter-in-law told us about the Beechcroft development: her neighbour’s parents have also moved to Beechcroft’s Priory Court development.”

“Now we’re closer we get to see the children and grandchildren more often and I am able to help with babysitting – although I did used to help out when we lived in Wales,” adds Mrs Reid.

Located just off the Salisbury Road in Marlborough, Priory Court comprises two and three-bedroom houses and apartments, located approximately half-a-mile from the town centre and within five minutes’ walk of a new superstore.  Each new home is energy-efficient and easy to maintain and the estate management service takes care of the day-to-day administration of the development including the maintenance of both private and communal gardens.   The development has proved so popular that only three new two-bedroom apartments remain available, each with a terrace or balcony and priced from £295,000 to £345,000.

“Our new Beechcroft apartment is well-appointed,” comments Mrs Reid.  “It is well-built and extremely well insulated and so is very warm and comfortable.  The balcony, which is south-east facing, is particularly pleasant and sunny - as is our drawing room.  The arrangement of rooms suits our needs completely and, although we are completely independent, we still have the important advantage of the exterior areas and the grounds being maintained for us.  There are no worries about mowing the lawn or cutting back the shrubs.  The development has a warm and friendly feel about it and the estate manager is excellent and has been very helpful.”

Mr and Mrs Reid also like the fact that there is a communal lounge to socialise in at Priory Court - and that they have some very nice neighbours.   Marlborough itself is ideal because Mr Reid is able to walk to the main street using a safe route with pedestrian crossings.
