Beechcroft Unveils The Chapel at Fitzroy Gate in Old Isleworth

Beechcrofts Special Projects team has spent many months working on the careful renovation and conversion of the Grade II listed buildings at Fitzroy Gate. Now, the company plans to launch the stunning new homes created within the red brick chapel, designed by Pugin & Pugin in 1902.

The launch will take place on Saturday 28 January and, given the response to previous sales launches at this impressive private estate, anyone wishing to attend is advised to register their interest with the Beechcroft sales team as soon as possible.

The seven-acre, private, walled and gated estate, which has become Fitzroy Gate is set within the Isleworth Riverside Conservation Area and was acquired by Beechcroft, working in partnership with St James, in 2013. St James is constructing new townhouses on part of the site and Beechcroft has added nine new apartments in a building that complements the original mansion house.

The converted Grade II listed buildings include the White House, its stable block and a red brick chapel, designed by ecclesiastical architects, Pugin & Pugin, and built in 1902. The chapel has been converted into just four spectacular two and three-storey houses, each incorporating beautiful stained glass or leaded light windows.

The conversion of the chapel, with its crested green slate roof and painted stone window surrounds, needed careful consideration. Important features included an elaborate circular window on the upper floor and segmented arched windows to the ground floor and the two windows between the buttresses on the first floor. These features have been treated respectfully in design terms and the original space has been imaginatively converted without compromising the windows.

In one house, the choir gallery has become a guest bedroom with views over the first-floor living space. This upper level bedroom incorporates the circular window, visible from and illuminating - the living space below. In another house, the first-floor open-plan living space features a spiral staircase leading up to a study and allowing an unrestricted view of the soaring ceiling and views of the stained glass windows.

Guests at the launch will have the opportunity of viewing the two-bedroom mews house with private terrace in the stable courtyard which is currently available at 725,000. This two-storey house has an open plan living space with bifolding doors opening onto the private terrace and an en-suite master bedroom.
