Beechcroft unveils the restored chapel at Fitzroy Gate, Isleworth

Fitzroy Gate is one of the most impressive conversion and renovation projects undertaken by Beechcroft’s Special Projects Division. The six fabulous apartments in the Grade II listed original ‘White House’ at Fitzroy Gate have all been sold and now Beechcroft is preparing to release the new homes in the converted chapel for sale at this riverside estate.

Set within the Isleworth Riverside Conservation Area, Fitzroy Gate on Richmond Road comprises a total of 23 converted and newly built apartments and houses in a peaceful, beautifully-landscaped and fully-maintained riverside setting within easy commuting distance of central London. St James is currently building town houses on part of the site which extends to over 7 acres.

The red-brick chapel, designed by Pugin & Pugin in 1902, has been converted into four spectacular houses including 3 three-storey houses and one two-storey house with stunning living spaces incorporating original stained glass and leaded-light windows.

The restoration and conversion of the chapel, with its white-crested green slate roof and painted stone window surrounds, has been carefully considered to respect - and make the most of – the circular and arched windows. In one house, a choir gallery has been retained and converted into a guest bedroom, with views over the first floor living space and in another, the open plan living space is located on the first floor with the spiral staircase leading up to the second floor where the study has an unrestricted view of the soaring ceiling and the beautiful stained glass windows.

The chapel has a specification of the highest standard with stone worktops, sleek handle-free kitchen cabinets and a range of top brand appliances. All the appliances, including an induction hob, oven, steam combination oven, warming drawer and extractor hood are by Miele and there is also a Quooker boiling tap.

Beechcroft plans to formally open the final stage of the conversion, the Mews, to the public in September and is already registering interest in the garden party event, planned for 10th September. The Mews comprises 4 two-storey cottages created in buildings which date from around 1832, originally stables and servants’ quarters. The Mews cottages, when complete, will feature generously-proportioned open plan living space. Two of the four homes feature bifold doors which open up onto private terraces within the courtyard.

Fifteen of the twenty-three Beechcroft properties at Fitzroy Gate have been sold. The prices of the new homes in the Chapel start from £1,295,000, from £730,000 for a two-bedroom mews house and from £650,000 for a brand new two-bedroom apartment in Isabella House.
