David and Gilly Hearnshaw were living in a lovely house near Canterbury in Kent when they made the decision to move to Beechcroft’s Penhurst Gardens development in Chipping Norton.
The couple discovered the Beechcroft property development on Rightmove and realised it was perfectly placed to make visiting the family much easier. What’s more, it will enable them to ‘lock up and leave,’ travelling in the UK and abroad.
Mr and Mrs Hearnshaw didn’t lose much time in travelling to Chipping Norton to visit the Penhurst Gardens development which is currently under construction. The show home on site is open daily from 10 am to 5 pm. And the rest, as they say, is history. They reserved a new home and are now looking forward to moving in.
Penhurst Gardens has been created on the site of the former Penhurst School and comprises two and three-bedroom houses and two-bedroom apartments, both new and converted and designed with retirement in mind. The majority of new homes have outside space in the form of a terrace or balcony and all the houses, along with ground floor apartments, provide sun rooms.
“We decided to move to be more centrally located to visit our family. It was a big decision for us, particularly as this has to be our last move,” comments Gilly Hearnshaw. “We really liked the location of the development as it’s possible to walk to all the local facilities – and Chipping Norton really is a lovely, small, market town.”
“We are attracted by the 'lock-up-and-leave' lifestyle – we enjoy travelling to Spain and the Canaries – as well as within the UK,” continues Mrs Hearnshaw. “At the moment we travel for about 12 weeks a year but now we’ll be able to spend more time away, especially as there is an Estate Manager to keep an eye on things whilst we are away. It is certainly comforting to know that an onsite Estate Manager will be permanently employed in case we need anything.”
The Hearnshaws hadn’t looked at any other Beechcroft developments but were immediately impressed by the standards of workmanship in Penhurst Gardens - and considered the communal lounge to be a useful feature. Mrs Hearnshaw was also pleased to find that Beechcroft’s sales team was helpful and easy to deal with.
Soon, David and Gilly Hearnshaw will be enjoying the benefits of a new home and an easier lifestyle.
“We will miss our old home but we won’t miss clearing up leaves from the surrounding trees,” concludes Gilly. “With a new house everything is in good condition and there aren’t any of the problems associated with older homes. Not only that, our home will be energy efficient which means lower fuel bills. All in all, our lifestyle will be more relaxed and we’ll have more free time.”
