A Sense of Community - one of the top five priorities for Beechcroft's customers

In a recent British survey, 40% of those surveyed said they didnt know their neighbours names and 12% have never spoken to their neighbours. When youre moving to a new home, however, particularly if youre over the age of 55 and downsizing, new neighbours and a sense of community is really important. In fact, specialist retirement developer, Beechcrofts own research reveals that a good sense of community is one of the top 5 priorities for the over 55s when looking for somewhere to enjoy their retirement.

We pride ourselves on the fact that we organise events to make it easier for neighbours to get to know each other before they move in, comments Angela South, Sales and Marketing Director for Beechcroft Developments. Knowing there is a good sense of community on a development is important, particularly for those living alone and it also provides peace of mind for their families. One of our new owners commented that he met more people within 18 hours of moving into his new Beechcroft home than he had in the 21 years he had spent in his former home.

One of the latest events organised by Beechcrofts sales and marketing team was a cheese and wine party with wine tasting hosted by Phil Hood from The Thames Valley Wine School at Priory Court, Marlborough. The Thames Valley Wine School provides wine tastings and courses all over Berkshire and, as an independent organisation, are able to pick the best wines from local merchants.

The communal lounge at Priory Court proved to be the perfect location. Priory Court is located just off Salisbury Road, approximately half a mile from the town centre and close to Marlboroughs new superstore. Designed with retirement in mind, it comprises a collection of two and three-bedroom houses and apartments that are energy efficient and easy to maintain. The development provides an estate management service and the Estate Manager organises the cleaning and maintenance of communal areas and gardening of both communal and private gardens as well as being on hand to offer help and advice when needed.

Currently, a range of two-bedroom apartments and two and three-bedroom houses are available at Priory Court, priced from 285,000 for a two-bedroom first floor apartment with balcony to 495,000 for a three-bedroom house with sunroom, balcony and terrace.
