Press Release - Fri 5th Mar 2010

It's the right time for Brian Thorogood to make the move to The Clock House, Byfleet.

We can’t stop the clock … so sooner or later most of us have to come to terms with the fact that we’re no longer able to maintain a family home with a large garden.  Whilst downsizing may require a great deal of physical and emotional energy, it also brings benefits.  But when is the right time to downsize?

According to retirement specialist, Beechcroft, the happiest downsizers are those who decide to move as soon as they feel their current property is becoming too much to cope with. Brian Thorogood, who bought a new Coach House apartment at Beechcroft’s The Clock House in Byfleet realised this at the end of 2009.

“I was living in Knaphill, about five miles from Byfleet, when I visited The Clock House. I knew that I had to move because I really needed to downsize from a large house set in a large garden - but I also wanted to stay in an area that was familiar to me - and The Clock House was ideal.  I’m not far from my son and daughter, the transport links are excellent; we’re close to the M25 and even nearer the A3 which makes it easy to get to Guildford and Wisley Gardens.” comments Mr Thorogood who works as a consultant for STL Group PLC, providing services for the legal profession.

“Living here, I’m close to a Marks & Spencer store; which is excellent as I’m not used to cooking!  The Clock House grounds are delightful and the apartment I’ve chosen is of very high quality.  It’s also quiet and secure and there are people of my own age-group living here which is also important.”

Living at The Clock House, Mr Thorogood will have peace of mind knowing that an Estate Manager is responsible for the day-to-day administration of the development, including the gardening and maintenance and for keeping an eye on homes whilst owners are away.  The cost of this is covered by the service charges which represent excellent value for money when compared with the expense of looking after a older property, employing repair men, gardeners, window cleaners and decorators.

Just five new homes remain available at The Clock House - and all within the original listed building which has been converted into just nine stunning apartments.  Each conversion apartment provides something unique - two of the apartments have spectacular bay windows, beautifully proportioned drawing rooms and high ceilings.   Three of the remaining properties are show homes which come complete with carpets, curtains, blinds and light fittings - and  prices start from £299,950.  The specification at The Clock House is of the high standard that has earned Beechcroft an enviable reputation.  Designed by Manor Cabinets, the kitchens provide a full range of integrated appliances, including a Bosch oven, hob and hood, a fridge-freezer, dishwasher and washer/dryer by Smeg.
